I have had at least four conversations with very senior male philosophers at top research universities where the male philosophers made sexist remarks. I cannot describe these conversations without identifying myself. I do not want to reveal my identity, since I have worked hard to get where I am, and have experienced enough subtle discrimination to last a lifetime already. I am sure I am not the only successful female philosopher in this position, and I am sure that, for similar reasons, many other stories must remain untold. What you read on this blog is only the tip of the iceberg.
