At one of faculty meetings at our university, congratulations were expressed to the Philosophy Dept. Head because his girlfriend had achieved her Ph.D. And when a (male) faculty member published a book, congratulations for expressed and the book put on display.
When I published a book, there was no acknowledgement whatsoever at the faculty meeting. Nada.
