When I started my undergrad (1990), I was drawn to philosophy and I could have chosen that discipline. There was not one other female student in any of my classes, not one female professor, not one female philosopher on the syllabus or curriculum. I was a freak alone with others that would see only my sexuality, and I believed them. Not any more.
I know what Wittgenstein meant when he said “A philosopher who is not taking part in discussions is like a boxer who never goes into the ring.”
Thank you for creating this forum for women to write their stories. It heals my philosophical soul.
