On not noticing women

I gave a paper recently on women’s under-representation in philosophy.  During the question period, someone remarked on the 50-50 split between women and men in the audience.  But it wasn’t until after the question period that a student remarked that no women had asked any questions.  And until he remarked on it, I hadn’t noticed either.  And yes, I am a woman.  (My best guess: it just felt normal.)
